Sweet

I am getting more and more enquiries about singing lessons, invoices are being paid and the Northfield Youth Singing Group is working well.  Today is the first day that I feel I have a real business :O

Things are looking good for my little venture, it's all quite exciting!

I am having a flatwarming on Saturday 14th and would like to invite Aberdeen Blogs :)  I know most of you anyway.  I don't want my place to be trashed or anything, but I think the worst offenders are already coming (billy) :p

I just heard from one of my oldest and dearest friends, one of my buddies that got me through university. His mum passed away suddenly last week.

I think it would be inappropriate to go into details about my friend or his family, but I just wanted to write something.

She was a lovely woman, she was always really kind to me and it's a damn shame that she has gone.

The Northfield Youth Singing Group

Ooooh well michty, I've been doing quite a lot in the past wee while.

He who likes jamming with bongos and I have now moved into our first little home, and it's wonderful.

I can't believe I managed to survive in our old place for so long.  Our new gaff is really quiet, but like most things I didn't realise quite how noisy the old place was until we moved here.  We have a shared garden with the other flats in the block.  I don't care that it isn't ours exclusively, I can't wait until the summer and I can have impromptu barbeques :D

We also have a shed, and there are plans afoot for it to be the music hub of the Norrie estate, lol :) when it is done up I will give my singing lessons there, and there is enough space for it to be a jamming session space for our various musical exploits.  We will also use it as the international hq for my wee company.  I have registered as self employed and am selling my wares via the name JCN Arts & Events.  Ooooh, exciting!  I think a music-related company based on Abbey Road is quite apt, eh?

Which brings me to the Northfield Singing Group, I am one of the group leaders and I need to spread the word.  Does anyone know of any children who enjoy singing?

'Even a man can do it'

I'm beginning to think that some women totally suck.

First there is an advert on the telly for 'Oven Pride' which basically implies that all men are completely useless.   It even goes so far as to say 'even a man can do it'.  WTF??  If the proverbial shoe was on the other foot, all different shades of hell would break out.  I wonder how many men are offended by these ads, but they kinda go 'meh' cos nobody seem to be backing their corner anymore.

Now Harriet Harman has thrown her own sexist comments into the ring, with her sweeping generalisations about how the investment banking sector would be better managed with the apparent clear-headedness of a woman.  Sorry Ms. Harman, but have you ever worked in an all-girl office?  Clear-headedness is certainly not the first word I would use to describe it. All people are different, and some work better in certain situations than others.

It seems to be that some women have come full circle, from being the oppressed to becoming the oppressor.
Equal opportunities isn't about getting rights for women and then belittling the opposite sex to make yourself look good.  Its about respect for men and women and for everyone to have the same chance at achieving their goals if they work hard.

I'm really fed up of people thinking that it's ok to belittle men. Men are ace :D

Hey Fi

I miss my best mate Fi, but she is coming back to the grey fortress of melancholy at the end of July. Hoorah!!

The last time I saw her was at my wedding which was in last October :(

Here's a wee clip from he who loves bass guitars and I's little trip to Houston to visit Fi, like, totally :)
